Disney, I have some thoughts…

BEFORE I SAY WHAT I SAY I JUST WANT TO SAY THIS...

Even though I may not like what some of the upcoming projects have to offer, I still respect the creators, greatly. Even though I may not like it, a lot of other people will. That is the beauty of entertainment and the beauty of everything, in general. My sometimes snobby movie opinions are a little extra sometimes, but I still respect the creator. Unless they are a piece of shit, then no.

Now... on with the show.

Today, Disney had themselves a little field day. They talked mostly about new Star Wars content and of course new Marvel content.

I’ll be honest… I feel this was kind of a last-minute keynote event. Although, I am pretty excited for all the new Star Wars content I am worried about Marvel.

MARVEL

Now, don’t get me wrong… I am excited, but also, I am not getting my hopes up. Watching the trailers, I was left underwhelmed. Forreal, like the ‘Loki’ series looks great and it isn’t surprising, because Tom Hiddleston is a fuckin’ god (A HA, get it?). I mean from what it seems like, the man, is the notorious plane hijacker, DB Cooper. I can get onboard with that.

What I am scared of, is that Marvel will try and get to ahead of themselves. For example, ‘Spider-Man 3’, I am growing ever more suspicious.

Let me be clear. Andrew Garfield is the WORST Spider-Man. Oh my gosh… the people who like him as Spider-Man, like him because of his love story with Gwen Stacy. Truly… those movies are trash.

Tobey Maguire, well, he is MY generation’s true Spider-Man. The first two movies are solid. Sam Raimi put his heart and soul into those movies, but the third Spider-Man really had too much on its plate. Much like the one being filmed, right now. I just think it’s too fan-servicey, stretching itself too thin, and straying away from what their (Marvel’s) principles have been since the beginning, which is building the story up at a steady pace. Not rushing into anything and fleshing all the content out, unlike DC.

However, OBJECTIVELY, Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man without a doubt. Some rumors is that he isn’t too happy with the past Spider-Mans’ returning. Hopefully, this is a one and done type of thing. Although, I could see them return when it comes to another Avengers type movie. It will take A LOT more superheroes to defeat Galactus and/or Kang the Conqueror.

I don’t mind the multi-verse and I know all this shit opened up when they went back in ‘Avengers: Endgame’, but there is a right way to do it. I believe the next Doctor Strange movie will do that, correctly. I do think Spider-Man 3 can too, but I just don't want them to throw in the towel and just make this a money grab, because they are bringing back all these actors from previous versions.

I just hope this isn't the start of the end... game... A HA HA HAA

Some of you are probably thinking “Luis who gives a fuck.” and others are probably thinking “Alright bruh… you are getting to greedy and snobby with this whole Marvel universe.” I don’t care though… I just want good comic book movie content. Don’t fuck up what has been working for the last 12 years.

I really have nothing else to say about Marvel, right now. I am still excited as fuck. I will pay money for a MOVIE TICKET (that’s right I will still go to the movie theaters, following CDC guidelines come 2021 and beyond that), because movie theaters are IMPORTANT. Don’t even get me started on this whole HBO Max bullshit. That is for another diary entry.

STAR WARS

Onto the GOOD GOOD. Like deadass, Star Wars is on a fucking role. Sequel trilogy who??? Poor Poe, Finn, and Rey… May the force be with you three.

ANYWAY…

Let me tell you this. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni could put Messi in a Star Wars movie or series and could probably get me to say Messi is better than Ronaldo. That is how good these two guys are. Plus, Taika Waititi is directing a Star Wars film… BRUH! I’ve known about it for a hot minute, but hearing it again is music to my ears. This manifesting stuff does really work.

I do want to be serious real quick. ‘The Mandalorian’ is by no means a masterpiece for film classes to study (or maybe it is idk, I was a communications major.), but it is the most entertaining show. I am so invested in this world. It just reminds me each time why I love art. The world building is second to no one.

ANYWHO…

Star Wars, finally, announced a lot of shows and movies that have been rumors. I am excited for every last one of them.

It is really great to finally get good Star Wars content after 4, long, underwhelming years with JJ and co. Don’t get me wrong—I did enjoy ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ quite a bit. It was a great start to a trilogy. Some would argue that each of the sequel trilogy movies were solid individual movies, but the cohesiveness was non-existent.

Which is kind of ironic. I thought that the prequel trilogy was the opposite. I thought that as individual movies they were average, but they all tied together greatly.

But, thankfully, Jon Faverau, Dave Filoni, and their rebel alliance took over (for the most part) and are reviving what once was the greatest fictional world.

If I’m being honest, I don’t know which show or movie I’m most excited for. I want to say the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, (SPOILER AHEAD!) but that preview of Ashoka made me hyped. I do believe this is Rosario Dawson’s ROLE, if you know what I mean.

Now, of course just like the new Spider-Man, I could be very wrong. The Star Wars shows, and movies could be hit or miss, but I am optimistic. As long as Kathleen Kennedy doesn’t get involved with any of the creative ideas, then we are in good hands.

I have a movie review coming soon. I am going to be very busy the next month or so. My life is about to change a whole lot in the next month. I will be telling you all soon.
